  1.     User Configuration
  2.  
  3.     You can use this module to manage user access and monitor user
  4.     processes. The User Configuration window displays a list of all
  5.     current user accounts.
  6.  
  7.  
  8.     You can use this window to:
  9.  
  10.     + Add a user
  11.     + Modify a user
  12.     + Delete a user
  13.     + Set or modify a password for a user
  14.     + Lock a user account
  15.     + Unlock a user account
  16.     + Expire a user's password
  17.     + View a user's information
  18.     + Monitor user processes
  19.     + Push NIS maps on any active NIS servers
  20.  
  21.     This window contains the following buttons:

  23.     Add
  24.  
  25.     Click on this button to create user accounts. The Create New User
  26.     Account window will appear. 
  27.  
  28.     Modify
  29.  
  30.     Click on this button to modify user accounts. One or more user accounts
  31.     must be selected from the list first.
  32.  
  33.     Delete
  34.  
  35.     Click on this button to easily delete a user from the system. This
  36.     program will delete the user account and also (optionally) remove
  37.     the HOME directory and all of its contents (files and sub
  38.     directories) associated with the user. Highlight the username(s) you
  39.     wish to delete from the system and then click on the Delete button.
  40.     Enlighten will prompt you to confirm your action.

  42.     Enlighten will NOT delete the users HOME directory if:
  43.  
  44.     + It is considered to be a sacred (required) directory. The sacred
  45.       directories are:
  46.  
  47.         / /usr /etc /bin
  48.  
  49.         /lib /home /dev /sbin
  50.  
  51.         /usr/bin /usr/adm /usr/lib /usr/sbin
  52.  
  53.         /usr/man /usr/lib/uucp
  54.  
  55.     + It is shared by more than one user. In this case, the HOME
  56.       directory is not deleted since this would also delete the HOME
  57.       directory of any sharing co-users.
  58.  
  59.     + It is not owned by the user whose HOME directory it is supposed to
  60.       be. In this case, Enlighten will then ask for your confirmation and
  61.       before deleting it.

  63.     Furthermore, Enlighten will not delete the root user account, this
  64.     is considered to be too dangerous to allow.
  65.  
  66.     Password
  67.  
  68.     Click on this button to change a currently defined User Account
  69.     password. You don't need to know the password. A pop-up window will
  70.     ask you to set the new password for the highlighted user.

  72.     Lock
  73.  
  74.     Click on this button to deny a specific user access to the system
  75.     without deleting the user's account. This procedure is part of the
  76.     Enlighten security module; be cautious about who can access it. A
  77.     pop-up window will prompt you to confirm this action.

  79.     Note: You must assign a new password to unlock a user, the existing
  80.     password will be lost!

  82.     Unlock
  83.  
  84.     Click on this button to remove a lock from a user account. Because
  85.     locking and unlocking user accounts is considered part of system
  86.     security, Enlighten will ask for a new password when it unlocks a
  87.     User Account.

  89.     Expire
  90.  
  91.     Click on this button to expire the password for the selected user
  92.     account(s) immediately. This option will only work on systems which
  93.     support password aging. The next time the user attempt to login to
  94.     the system, he or she will be forced to change his/her password. You
  95.     must confirm this option before it will be executed.

  97.     View
  98.  
  99.     Click on this button to view existing User Account information.

  101.     Processes
  102.  
  103.     This command displays a window of all processes currently running
  104.     which belong to the highlighted users. To view the processes,
  105.     highlight the users you wish to view and then click on the Processes
  106.     button. A window will appear displaying all processes for the
  107.     highlighted users. 
  108.  
  109.     NIS
  110.  
  111.     Click on this button to push/remake the NIS maps on any active NIS
  112.     servers. This updates the NIS servers and hosts on your network with
  113.     any Host Entry changes you've made to the Configuration list. If
  114.     there are no NIS servers to update for your choice(s), Enlighten
  115.     will display a dialog box telling you so.
